Finals berth for Canterbury skater
16 year-old skating sensation Cheltzie Lee skated a perfect short program, earning 52.16 points in Vancouver on February 23rd to make it to the finals.
"It's the first clean program I've skated this season and to do at Olympics and make a PB is what I've been dreaming of," said Cheltzie after her stellar performance.
Head Coach, Kylie Fennell was just as excited. "I knew during the day in the run up to the event that she was going to be OK. Putting that performance out was so exciting. I always believed she could do it."
Korean superstar and current World Champion, Yu-Na Kim blew the competition away with a world record score of 78.50 and has almost a five-point lead over Japan's Mao Asada and Canada's Joannie Rochette, whose mother Therese passed away suddenly on Sunday morning.
